Don't Let Ankle Pain Slow You Down!
Ankle pain can range from an inconvenience to excruciating pain. Typical causes can range from something relatively minor, like a strain or sprain, to ligament or bone deterioration and damage. Injuries aside, sources of this condition can be due to gout, arthritis, nerve compression, or poor structural alignment and instability.
Dr. Bill Releford will examine your ankle and determine the best course of action depending on the cause of the pain. He may prescribe a treatment of rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE) and over the counter anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen. If that doesn’t help to ease the pain, the next steps include physical therapy and cortisone injections. If none of these treatments help, then surgery is a possibility.
