Nutritional Analysis

Nutritional Evaluation Can Improve Healing of Chronic Wounds

Nutritional Analysis is an important information in order to enhance the healing process for those patients that have chronic non-healing wounds. Low protein levels are perhaps the most under-inspected nutritional element.   Patients with low protein are less likely to heal even if there is adequate circulation. Another test such as B12 levels as well as vitamins A and D can provide useful information as to why a patients wound is low to heal.

Services provided by Dr. Bill Releford and his staff at the Releford Foot and Ankle Institute include nutritional analysis. This information is necessary in order to improve the patient's overall health. This, in turn, will improve the chances of healing a wound that can eventually lead to infection and possible amputation. This information is shared with other members of the patient's healthcare team.
